Project Description
Part I
- Cut out three black squares of any size. Place and paste them on a 20x20 cm white Canson.
- Create a design where the negative space (the white areas) is AS VISUALLY IMPORTANT AS the black squares.
- In a sense you are to achieve a perfect visual balance between white and black. No cropping or overlapping allowed.
- Keep in mind the fact that, this design is made of squares and there are three of them, must be still be recognizable.
Part II
- Cut out three black shapes of any size and any kind. Place and paste them on a 20x20 cm. white Canson.
- This time the problem involves aiming towards a design where the negative space (the white areas or shapes) are VISUALLY MORE IMPORTANT than the black shapes.
- You may use cropping or overlapping, but the basic characteristics of the shapes and the fact that there are three of them must be still recognizable.
- That means the design may not look as if it is made with two or four black shapes.
